Please stop giving the Royals Attention! #EpsteinDidntKillHimself #ABC #AirTheInterview #Megxit

Readers, this is not a post about writing advice. If that’s what you’re here for, please feel free to browse my site.

For everyone interested… Some may consider this a breakage of my self-imposed rule of being a bastion of escapism where people of all walks of life are welcome and politics is not. If you feel that is the case, I’m sorry for that and would encourage you to not continue reading this post.

With that out of the way, everyone who knows me even marginally well, knows that I’m a child welfare advocate. I’ve donated copies of my age-appropriate books to Children’s Hospital in Boston, I’ve lobbied for better treatment for children in our social services system, and I put my career on hold for three years to work with abandoned/abused youths. I still donate to those causes in both money and time, as well as make large contributions to places like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital , The Ronald McDonald House, as well as many others.

As such, the welfare of children comes above any other ideal I hold. As such, I have to say this… PLEASE, PEOPLE… STOP WORSHIPING THE UK ROYALS! I know there are a lot of other people guilty of this that should be under investigation, but this is a pretty big one. Not only is Prince Andrew’s exploits rightly under heavy suspicion, his family also helped quash the ABC Interview  that would have aired the dirty laundry of an elite pedo cult and saved multiple children.

Among other rotten things the family has done, this is pretty damning. So please, these are not good people. I thought, given a lot of the comments I saw surrounding the Royals following this, that maybe the world was waking up. Yet since the whole “Megxit” situation we once again have news agencies both in the US and aboard absolutely swooning over these people.

But Jim ABC claims that the Royals didn’t threaten them.

There’s something to be said for ‘spontaneous sincerity’. It’s been my experience that you learn more about people in the heat of the moment than you’ll ever learn from prepared remarks that have been vetted by PR and attorneys. They’re also saying that the story didn’t meet their journalistic standards… yet we’ve seen many MANY other stories they’ve ran with even less corroboration.

But Jim, they’re looking out for a member of their family. Are you saying you wouldn’t do the same…

I’m going to quash this question right now. No, no I would not. If I had a family member that I knew was doing stuff like this, and I could prove it, no I would not attempt to run defense. Sorry, blood may be thicker than water, but it’s not thicker than tears.

Okay, that’s all I really wanted to say on this… I dunno, I may not even leave this up. I might just delete it later. We’ll see… I’m also not going to put my typical book plug at the bottom out of principle.

Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant.

You Want More Trump?

So it seems like the DNC has learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING…

One of the frontrunners for the DNC chair made some pretty egregious statements during the candidates forums:

And the checklist…

#BlackLivesMatter shout out… pretty much immediately.
Divisive rhetoric regarding prejudice… Check.
Racist attacks on white people… Check.
Entire argument based around race without substance… Check.
Self-hating statement… Check

No apology… just doubling down… Check…

brown-tweet

Piss off your constituents… Check…

Well everyone… you’d better pray that she doesn’t get the job. If she does, it’s just one more brick in the path to a second term, and the path is already pretty long…

RIP Princess Leia

From the New York Time:

Carrie Fisher, the actress, author and screenwriter who brought a rare combination of nerve, grit and hopefulness to her most indelible role, as Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” movie franchise, died on Tuesday morning. She was 60.

A family spokesman, Simon Halls, said Ms. Fisher died at 8:55 a.m. She had a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday and had been hospitalized in Los Angeles.

This… was unexpected… unbelievably unexpected. She was always a fan-favorite and one of the early strong female role models in film. Her performance in Star Wars alone set her apart from others and made her name one that would be remembered for a very long time.

I personally grew up watching her… everything from Star Wars to Drop Dead Fred to… yes… the damn Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back movie.

Her death comes at the end of a very hard struggle with drugs, weight, and psychological issues that had plagued Carrie her entire life. I suppose it’s yet another testament to her character that she was able to overcome all of that with a smile and a sense of humor.

Carrie, yours was a life that touched many and you will be missed. Your loss is our loss and will leave an irreparable hole in geek culture for years to come.

Thank you Carrie, you will be missed!

The Reality of Child Sex Trafficking Rings…

… I don’t want to post this. I REALLY don’t want to post this. As all of you know, a lot of my writing advice and posts lately have been about the realities and forms of evil.

Well if you remember yesterday, I posted about just how rare true evil actually was, and how sometimes even the most evil people believe that what they’re doing is for the greater good…

This isn’t one of those times. This is one of the other times I referred to, a complete and utter breach of everything moral and ethical, a violation of taboo, and… I really can’t say anything else.

To anyone who knows who he is, Sargon of Akkad is a fairly prolific Youtuber who does a great deal of political/social commentary. He’s far from unbiased, I’ll admit, but he does a fairly good job of going after both sides of the aisle and as such, is one of many commentators on both sides of the isle that I’ve come to heed and respect.

The video below is 30 minutes long, but I implore everyone to watch it. Headphones if not in private… and for the love of God, do not watch at work!!! There is nothing illegal here, I promise, but it is still horribly disturbing.

I’m going to stop now as my hands are pretty much shaking as it is. I’m sorry to post this so near to Christmas, which is supposed to be a time of joy for all… but honestly… you all know what I’m about, you all know that children are my #1 when it comes to philanthropy and life. So things like this… I honestly don’t know what to say except that if you ever need an example of true/pure evil… google ‘Child Sex Trafficking.’ You’ll find what you’re looking for… though you’ll probably regret it.

We’ve all heard a story here and a story there, but most of the stuff you can read or listen to above, most of the world, especially the voters, will never hear about because the media either glosses over it or covers the whole damn thing up.

To my readers, I ask the following…

  1. Do NOT hit the like button. Please. Leave a comment if you feel so inclined, but please do not ‘like’ it.
  2. Share it, spread it around, put it on Facebook, reblog it, social media the heck out of this. Make it go viral. Everyone needs to know about what the mainstream media will not report on. We need to know about the people who give us our news and the people leading our countries. Don’t let this fall by the wayside.

Editorial vs. Factual

“…In terms of fictional writing I think it doesn’t really matter who the author is or what they believe in as it wouldn’t affect my view of their work in either a negative or positive way. I would happily read, for example, something by L. Ron Hubbard without caring for or knowing anything about scientology – knowing his beliefs make no difference to me as a reader. But what about non fiction? What about authors of propaganda presented as fact? Or even research papers paid for by specific interest groups (oil companies, religious groups etc.) – if you knew that the authors of a book about evolution were evangelical Christians (for example) would it make you question their research?”

In response to my post “Drawing a Line in the Sand.”

Hi Lucinda,

Hooo boy… yeah non-fiction is a whole other boat. Even there, I would argue that the writer should not be obligated to make their political leanings known. There are a couple of reasons for this…

  1. The author’s political biases are probably already known. Take the movie The Reagans for example. President Reagan himself was played by the husband of known left-wing activist, Barbara Streisand… so it really should be looked at with some skepticism.
  2. Sources. Non-fiction writers are supposed to cite sources and make a reference page at the end of the book, this is for all to see.

So let’s say that someone didn’t cite sources… then likely their book would be looked at as a work of fiction.

Now, let’s go off on the odd chance that someone wrote a propaganda piece and passed it off as fact in a non-fiction work and they have no political history or other works… then honestly, it’s the responsibility of the reader to know the difference.

The first thing I would do is check the source material. Check to see if the cited sources are scholarly works, text books, and so on… or are they blogs, editorial pieces, pieces from media news, or the rantings of some random idiot…

12319286_1022237901172753_846091618_nSigh… yeah… Needless to say, there is a huge difference there.

If a reader catches one of these people in the act, I’d say it’s not only their right, it is there responsibility to call that person out on it. This is why I take virtually nothing that people like Anita Sarkeesian say seriously. Be wary of them when they close down comment sections on YouTube or block twitter followers who dare to challenge them. That’s usually a tell-tale sign that what they’re pushing as literal fact is in fact bogus.

Most of the mainstream media is guilty of this, which is why their mediums are dying quickly. With the exception mostly of CSPAN, every single news outlet out there puts a spin on almost everything they report. These days, almost 100% of the news we watch are editorials, not fact and unfortunately, these editorials are pushed as actual literal fact, at which point intentionally or otherwise they become LIES. This is important, because when people are printing opinion as fact, that becomes a very serious ethical problem.

The important thing is to know the difference between editorial and fact:

Editorial: a newspaper article written by or on behalf of an editor that gives an opinion on a topical issue.

Fact: A thing that is indisputably the case.

There’s the difference and this is why I say it is the READERS responsibility to know the difference. Unscrupulous propaganda machines rarely admit they’re wrong unless significantly called out on it.

This is why I would never EVER write a non-fiction piece. Unlike the mainstream media, I have a moral and ethical compass. I’ve been a political activist in one way or another for many years up until recently. I know that there is no way that I could ever write something without putting my own bias and personal feelings into it. So I don’t try to. Any time I write about events that actually happen, I openly admit that it’s my own take on them and actually encourage people to come forward and point out where they think I’m wrong so that I can correct it. Don’t take what I say as fact. Use it and other opinions to help you form your own. I never write anything with the intention of misleading anyone. I just want to get my own thoughts out.

So to answer your question, if someone doesn’t want their political leanings known, fiction or non-fiction, they’re under no obligation to. Sorry to say it, but it’s true. However if you catch someone printing lies, call them out on it. Make it known that what they’re doing is wrong. I honestly believe that its not only your right, it’s your responsability. Just as it is everyone elses.

I sincerely hope this helps clear that up!

However, I will open this up to the comments section as well. What do you think, people? Should those writing fact have to devulge their political leanings? Should the readers be responsible for fact-finding when it comes to editorial writing, or descerning the difference? Let me know!
