From My Writing Playlist #Music #Metal #Writing

LOVE this. Just bought this album. I was actually worried about Dragonforce. Their previous album wasn’t that great. This one… pure 80s cheese and I love it!!

When to listen: General playlist, as with most Dragonforce songs. This is some good positive energy.

From My Writing Playlist #Metal #Avantasia #Writing #Storytelling

Got a request to recommend a good ‘rock opera’ song. Really it doesn’t get any better than Avantasia and in particular this song! The Great Mystery has everything; chorus, amazing instrumentals, guest performance by metal legend Bob Catley from Magnum… oh yeah! This has to be on my list!

When to listen:  I’ll give you a hint, skip to 9:19. Then picture your favorite Disney animated classic. Yeah, this is an ending song. When you’re ready to close up your story, THE INTENSE ENERGY at the end of this song is what you want!

From My Writing Playlist #Amaranthe #Metal #Sabaton #82nd #Music

I actually love this more than the Sabaton version. I’m a huge fan of Elize Ryd and am actually going to meet her this coming August! This song also reaches me on another level because… well… My grandfather was All American 82nd. So yeah, big time love on this one!

When to listen:  General playlist, tons of positive vibes and multiple places where this would work for writing! SIT BACK AND ENJOY!!!

From My Writing (Christmas!) Playlist

This song fills me with a great amount of joy. It’s debatable whether or not this is a Christmas or New Years song, but I hear it at both, so it counts. I used to rock out to this on a guitar with a bunch of friends. So I have a lot of fond memories.

When to Listen: Ending, when writing after the final fight. This is a good song to end on.

Again, not a huge fan, but that’s partially because I’m not a huge Tom Hanks fan, but it’s a nice movie if you can deal with him being… almost every adult role in it?

When to Listen: … ugh… damn it. Once my eyes dry.  Damn you Polar Express!! (General playlist)

I admit to being perplexed by this song. It’s kind of sad for a Charlie Brown movie. Still it is pretty good.

When to Listen: During the journey. When your character is in the middle of a question, perhaps trying to reach the first destination.
