From My Writing (Christmas!) Playlist

This song fills me with a great amount of joy. It’s debatable whether or not this is a Christmas or New Years song, but I hear it at both, so it counts. I used to rock out to this on a guitar with a bunch of friends. So I have a lot of fond memories.

When to Listen: Ending, when writing after the final fight. This is a good song to end on.

I know it’s silly, I know these stop motion specials creep people out, but I love them.

When to listen: Take a break and enjoy.

I know, this technically doesn’t count because it’s a commercial jingle… but COME ON!!! This one was all over the place. It was never the Holidays when I was younger until I heard this song! I was so upset when they stopped playing it every year… Thank God for Youtube!!!

When to Listen: Build up. This is a song that just fills you with anticipation for what’s coming down the line. Listen to this when you’re writing about the build up to a big scene.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am NO fan of Jim Carrey and the abomination that is his rendition of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. That being said, this song is actually pretty decent.

When to listen: This is a quest building song, when the hero first sees what lies ahead of them and has to make the decision on what they’re going to do.

Hehehe… you knew after ‘Fairy tale in New York City’, that this one was going to make the list.

When to Listen: Don’t, not when writing. Stop writing, then listen. I don’t want to know what people might come up with to write while listening to this one! 🙂

I have to admit, I had to go through a few different versions of this song to find one I liked. This is as close as I could get… and even this one feels way to rushed.

When to listen: Brainstorming, especially if you like harmonies. This would be a great place to try to concoct a few ideas.
